SECURE FUNDING FOR YOUR ORGANIZATION

Depending on the industry your business is in or the type of organization you represent, there may be government grant funds available to pay for security enhancements and upgrades. Below is a sampling of just a few of the security grant programs currently being funded:

Security Grants:

IEMA Illinois Non-Profit Security Grant Program

The Illinois Non-Profit Security Grant Program provides funding support for target hardening and other physical security enhancements for non-profit organizations that are at high risk of a terrorist attack. NSGP-IL seeks to integrate the preparedness activities of non-profit organizations with broader state and local preparedness efforts. NSGP-IL funds must be used for target-hardening activities, which can be accomplished through the purchase or installation of security equipment on real property (including buildings and improvements) owned or leased by the non-profit organization. Security enhancements must be for the locations that the non-profit occupies at the time of the application, and the projects must be fully completed during the three-year performance period.

FEMA Nonprofit Security Grant Program

This grant provides funding support for target hardening and other physical security enhancements and activities to nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of terrorist attack. The intent is to integrate nonprofit preparedness activities with broader state and local preparedness efforts. It is also designed to promote coordination and collaboration in emergency preparedness activities among public and private community representatives, as well as state and local government agencies.

TSA Surface Transportation Security Grants

DHS provides security grants to mass transit and passenger rail systems, intercity bus companies, freight railroad carriers, ferries and the trucking industry to help protect the public and nation’s critical transportation infrastructure against acts of terrorism and other large-scale events.

FEMA Port Security Grant Program

This grant provides funding to state, local and private-sector partners to help protect critical port infrastructure from terrorism, enhance maritime domain awareness, improve port-wide maritime security risk management, and maintain or reestablish maritime security mitigation protocols that support port recovery and resiliency capabilities.

FEMA Transit Security Grant Program

This grant provides funding to eligible public transportation systems (which include intra-city bus, ferries and all forms of passenger rail) to protect critical transportation infrastructure and the traveling public from terrorism, and to increase transportation infrastructure resilience.

FEMA Tribal Homeland Security Grant Program

The Tribal Homeland Security Grant Program (THSGP) plays an important role in the implementation of the National Preparedness System by supporting the building, sustaining and delivery of core capabilities essential to achieving the National Preparedness Goal of a secure and resilient nation.
